Touraine Bienvenue

Our first day in Touraine, the Loire Valley, was sunny and warm.  Perfect for chores!  We had errands to do like arranging for a car, then checking with the mechanic to get La Twingo ready for the road trip,
grocery-shopping for the bungalow.  But we couldn't help but take in the beauty of spring all around.
The numerous canola (rapeseed?) fields are tremendous, such vibrant yellow that they were strikingly vivid even from the air as the plane was landing.  They are such a deep, rich color with clumps so thick they blend together in a solid, luxurious mass of captured sunlight.  You can't help but think that they must have been the inspiration for Van Gogh's bold painting style.  Spring flowers are everywhere and we counted 7 hot air balloons flying over the fields near the bungalow.

Jonathan couldn't resist frolicking between errands……..

The warm welcome was appreciated, as we had days of rain to follow.  It made me glad I had left my boots and parka behind in the bungalow from my last stay!
